DBFood is one of the few startups in Vietnam that has chosen to pursue the development of green food processing technologies based on traditional agricultural products. Responding to the growing demand for nutritious, clean, preservative-free, and eco-friendly food, DBFood is on a mission to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural produce—especially brown rice and VietGAP-certified seeds—through the application of modern processing technologies.
Unlike many food businesses that focus primarily on packaging or marketing to stand out, DBFood invests heavily in core production technologies. The startup has developed a proprietary processing method that helps preserve the natural flavor and nutritional value of the raw ingredients. This is a notable advancement, especially as traditional food processing often involves high heat, which depletes nutrients, or the addition of chemical preservatives to extend shelf life. DBFood’s technology emphasizes strict control over every stage—from harvesting and preliminary processing to packaging—ensuring consistent product quality and food safety without the use of synthetic preservatives. This approach not only meets modern consumer trends but also contributes to reducing the environmental impact of food supply chains—an increasingly urgent challenge today.
Compared to other solutions on the market—such as industrial cereals or imported supplements that often rely on synthetic flavorings or chemical preservatives—DBFood has chosen a more time-consuming R&D path that is, however, more sustainable in the long term. This strategic direction is one reason DBFood gained attention at the P4G Summit Vietnam 2025, where it showcased a product line made from brown rice and VietGAP seeds. Through the event, DBFood not only expanded its network of collaborators but also demonstrated the potential to scale its clean production model using localized technologies directly at domestic farming areas—thereby increasing the value of Vietnamese rice and reducing emissions across the agricultural chain.
DBFood‘s products have achieved 4-star OCOP certification and won the Vietnam Golden Agriculture Brand (2022). The brand also received the Special National Prize at the “Women Entrepreneurs Unlocking Local Resources” competition (2023) and was honored in the “Innovative Enterprises for Promoting Vietnamese Goods and Brands” program (2023).
A key element of DBFood’s technology strategy is its ambition to implement on-site processing. If successful, this would represent a major breakthrough in reducing transportation costs, minimizing post-harvest losses, and empowering local farmers with improved production capabilities. By integrating processing technology directly at the source of raw materials, DBFood can maintain greater control over the supply chain, thereby improving traceability—an increasingly important requirement when entering strict international markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Middle Eastern countries.
Rather than competing on price or packaging, DBFood aims to convince consumers through genuine product quality—an approach that takes time to build but offers long-term stability. Investing in clean processing technology, transparent procedures, and strong links to local raw materials not only builds consumer trust but also creates opportunities to grow in high-standard markets.
As Vietnam’s agriculture sector faces increasing pressure to transition toward greener practices and greater value-added, DBFood’s technological development model is a prime example of combining innovation, food processing technology, and a long-term sustainability vision. This is not just a food production startup—it is part of a broader transformation journey, helping steer Vietnam’s agriculture toward higher value and lower emissions. Startups like DBFood are exactly what the green startup ecosystem needs more of.
