GoStream Pioneering Livestream E-commerce with Mini App and Referral Solutions

GoStream was founded in 2017 in Vietnam with a simple yet sharp technological idea: to support sellers in livestreaming simultaneously across multiple social media platforms without facing technical barriers or high costs. Amid the global boom of livestream commerce, GoStream chose a different path—not by building another social media platform, but by creating a tool to help sellers optimize video engagement on existing channels like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.

GoStream’s first product was a platform that enabled multi-channel livestreaming using pre-recorded videos, integrated with features such as chatbot auto-replies, interactive minigames to retain viewers, and direct links to e-commerce platforms. The development team continued to innovate by integrating mini apps and smart product recommendation tools, enabling sellers to expand their customer base through referral models and collaborators—an approach particularly well-suited to the rapidly growing online sales ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

From a technological standpoint, GoStream built its system on a microservices architecture to ensure scalability and the ability to handle thousands of concurrent livestreams. The use of cloud computing infrastructure and integration of APIs from major social media networks further enhanced system flexibility, making it easy to deploy for users without technical backgrounds. Its simple interface, livestreaming process that takes only a few clicks, and the ability to personalize the selling experience quickly attracted attention from the online retail community.

Compared to international solutions like Restream or StreamYard, GoStream stands out in terms of cost-efficiency, customization options for sellers in Asian markets, and particularly its ability to integrate e-commerce features directly, rather than stopping at broadcasting functions. While foreign platforms primarily focus on entertainment or webinar streaming, GoStream clearly targets commerce—from suggesting products via comments to integrating order processing mechanisms within the livestream.

A major milestone came in 2020, when GoStream was crowned national champion at TECHFEST Vietnam—the country’s largest annual event for innovation and startups. This success not only affirmed the value of its technology but also helped the startup secure a $1 million Series A investment from VinaCapital Ventures in early 2021, following a successful $200,000 seed round from VinaCapital and Zone Startups Vietnam. With this financial and technical backing, GoStream accelerated product development and expanded its footprint to regional markets such as Thailand, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and more recently, Saudi Arabia. By 2024, the platform had surpassed 1 million registered users and was processing an average of 30,000 videos per day.

In the domestic market, GoStream also pursued a methodical partnership strategy. A prime example is the “Partner Recognition 2024” event held in collaboration with Zalo Mini App to strengthen digital ecosystem linkages within Vietnam. Appearing within the ecosystem of local apps not only boosted brand visibility but also reinforced user trust in an increasingly dynamic digital environment.

The key takeaway from GoStream’s journey is the importance of deeply understanding the market and identifying real problems that need solving. Instead of creating a new, risk-laden platform, they focused on providing maximum support to sellers—those who may not be tech-savvy but are at the forefront of the livestream commerce trend. Additionally, an open development strategy, API integration, and collaborations with major platforms have helped GoStream remain adaptable in a constantly evolving market.

With low costs, intuitive tools, and seamless platform integrations, GoStream is shaping the future of digital retail — not only in Vietnam, but across the region.
