VIOT is one of the few tech startups in Vietnam that integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the Internet of Things (IoT) to tackle a large-scale yet often overlooked problem: energy management and savings for businesses. In a context where more than 50,000 commercial buildings across the country are still operating with outdated and energy-inefficient electrical systems, VIOT was founded with a mission to help businesses transition to smart energy models—without requiring significant upfront investment.
The core solution developed by VIOT is an intelligent energy efficiency platform called VEEP (short for VIOT Energy Efficiency Platform). Rather than selling software or hardware, VIOT adopts an Energy-as-a-Service model, allowing businesses to use its AIoT-based system to monitor, analyze, and optimize energy operations in real time—all with zero upfront costs. All hardware, including current sensors, gateways, and data analytics systems, are provided, installed, and maintained by VIOT under an all-inclusive service contract. In practice, customers using VEEP can reduce their monthly electricity consumption by 20–30%.
What sets VIOT apart from traditional automation systems is its service-based approach. While large enterprises typically have to invest hundreds of millions of VND in equipment, with VEEP, businesses only pay based on the amount of energy saved. Furthermore, VIOT controls both hardware manufacturing and software development, ensuring quality and allowing for flexible customization across a wide range of building types—from factories and cold storage facilities to shopping centers.
As of early 2025, VIOT has deployed VEEP in dozens of buildings and industrial zones in Vietnam, serving clients in the food, logistics, and retail sectors. The startup recently secured an $800,000 investment from Clime Capital, a fund specializing in clean energy startups across Southeast Asia. VIOT aims to reduce at least 10 million tons of CO₂ emissions globally by 2030.
In addition to financial backing, VIOT actively participates in major startup and investment networking events. At the 2025 P4G Vietnam Summit, VIOT was selected to showcase its solution in the startup exhibition area, providing opportunities to connect with numerous international partners in the sustainable energy sector. Participation in such platforms not only helps the startup promote its model but also enables it to gather real-world feedback from investors, experts, and potential clients in other Asian markets facing similar energy challenges.
The key takeaway from VIOT’s journey is the synergy between long-term vision, technological agility, and an outcome-oriented business model. Rather than competing purely on product features, VIOT demonstrates that it is possible to change energy consumption behaviors through intelligent services—without adding financial burdens to businesses. Full control over the entire value chain, from edge devices to the analytics platform, is also crucial to ensuring quality and scalability across different markets.
With its systematic approach and measurable impact on sustainable development goals, VIOT is emerging as a role model for Vietnamese tech startups aiming to venture into challenging fields like energy—while still delivering tangible value to both communities and businesses.
